XXVIII, 29-234 pp.First edition of a rare geographical and meteorological treatise on the winds and weather in different places around the world, written by James Capper (1743-1825). Capper was a former colonel in the East India Company, but after his return to England, he devoted much of his time to meteorology. In his present Observations of the winds and monsoons, Capper especially concentrates on the winds and weather of the East Indies, the coast of India and the Arabian and Persian Gulf, using information he obtained by his own observations, some ships' logs and earlier publications. He also discusses the meteorology of the Mediterranean, including Greece and the climate between the Adriatic and the Archipelago. Capper also introduces a new hypothesis in this work, namely that hurricanes are a type of whirlwind. All books are complete and the condition of the book will be indicated as follows:
Fine = as new
Very good = no significant flaws
Good = small flaws (e.g.: slight damage to cover, name on title page, faded colors, yellowish pages, etc.)
Reasonable = clearly read and used copy (e.g.: heavy folds, underlining, creases, etc.)
If a book has the qualification 'reasonable' the flaws will always be described. For the qualification 'good' a description will be given if necessary.
Names on title pages will not be mentioned. If a book has the qualification 'fine' it will of course not have names or ex libris in it.
If the measures of the book are mentioned it will always be hight first and then width (in centimeters). Oblong for example will not be mentioned separately.
Prices are net and in euro's. Postage and bank- or check transfer costs will be charged at cost price. Before finalizing the order you will first receive an e-mail stating the total costs of the transaction.
Books will be delivered at payment in advance. For companies, libraries and regular customers separate arrangements can be made.
Payment can be arranged by giro-transfer.
Books delivered will remain the property of the seller until full payment has been received.
Sending of the ordered books is for the risk of the seller. Seller has the right to insure goods or to send them by registered mail. The sub sequential costs will be charged to the account of the buyer after consulting the buyer.
Each purchase can be returned to the seller within 14 days after reception, without explanation (an e-mail to notify the seller would be appreciated however), after which the billed amount (excluding postage costs) will be restituted to the buyer. If the buyer returns the goods to the seller because the description of the books is not conform the actual condition of the goods then the billed amount including the postage costs will be restituted to the buyer. Returned goods should be received by the seller in the same condition as when sent to the buyer. The risk of returning goods is for the account of the sender.

Alle boeken zijn compleet en de conditie van het boek wordt als volgt aan geduid:
Gaaf = als nieuw
Zeer goed = geen noemenswaardige gebreken
Goed = lichte gebreken zoals: minimale leesvouwen, lichte beschadiging omslag, verkleuring, etc.)
Redelijk = duidelijk gelezen en gebruikt exemplaar (vouwen, onderstreping, schuingelezen, ezelsoren, etc.)
Als een boek de kwalificatie ‘redelijk’ heeft gekregen wordt altijd vermeld wat dan het gebrek is en bij de kwalificatie ‘goed’ wordt een omschrijving gegeven als dit nodig is.
Namen op schutblad worden niet vermeld. Bij een gaaf boek staat er vanzelfsprekend geen naam op het schutblad.
Als er maten genoemd worden dan altijd eerst de hoogte van het boek en dan de breedte. Oblong formaten worden dus niet apart vermeld.
Prijzen zijn netto en in euro. Porto en bank- en chequekosten worden tegen kostprijs doorberekend. U ontvangt vooraf een opgave van het totaalbedrag per email.
Boeken worden geleverd tegen vooruitbetaling. Aan instellingen, bibliotheken en bekende klanten kan eventueel op rekening worden geleverd.
Betaling kan geschieden via giro-overschrijving.
Geleverde boeken blijven eigendom van de verkoper totdat volledige betaling van het factuurbedrag heeft plaats gevonden.
Het verzenden van de bestelde boeken is voor risico van de verkoper. Verkoper behoudt zich het recht voor de goederen te verzekeren en/of aangetekend te verzenden. De kosten hieruit voortvloeiend worden na overleg doorberekend aan de koper.
Elke aankoop kan binnen 14 dagen na ontvangst, zonder opgaaf van reden, aan verkoper retour gezonden worden (een voorafgaande kennisgeving per email wordt op prijs gesteld), waarna restitutie van het aankoopbedrag (niet de verzendkosten) volgt. In respect to items purchased from us over the internet, our Terms of Sale are as follows:
1) We are professional booksellers and adhere to the standards of our professional associations, both in terms of describing books and offering redress in case of a discrepancy.
2) The prices of all material offered for sale on our web site, or on the databases to which we subscribe, are net in US dollars, and each item is subject to prior sale. Normally payment in full must be received before an item will be shipped. If sending a cheque, money order, or purchase order, it is advisable to contact us first to request that the book be reserved for you pending receipt of payment.
3) Payment to Black’s Fine Books and Manuscripts may be made by cheque drawn on a US or Canadian bank; wire transfer (please contact us directly for our BIC/IBAN/SWIFT particulars); credit card (MasterCard, VISA, AMEX).
Please note that we reserve the right to delay shipment of any book paid for by cheque, until the cheque has cleared the payer’s bank account. If paying by money order, please make sure that you purchase a form of money order which may be cashed in Canada (i.e., an international money order).

5) Any item purchased from Black’s Fine Books and Manuscripts is returnable (postpaid) to us within seven days of receipt, if it is found to be substantially different than as described. However, we guarantee any item we sell to be authentic as to provenance, or state of issue (i.e. if we claim a book is a first edition, we guarantee it to be such). If our description of a book in regard to provenance or state of issue is in error, it may be returned to us (with prior notice, please) for refund within one year of purchase.
We do offer a layaway arrangement on more expensive items: generally where the purchase price exceeds $1,000. Typically, the purchaser should offer to us a down payment and propose acceptable terms of payment. We do not charge interest on payments made according to such an agreement. The item being purchased will be shipped upon receipt of payment in full. If payment is not made in accordance with the terms of the layaway arrangement, then the deposit and any payments will only be refunded after we have re-sold the item in question, and deducted our re-selling costs (if any).
We can provide digital photographs or scans, sent as .jpeg attachments, of any item in stock. In making such a request, please be as specific as possible as to the views you would like to receive. Please bear in mind that it is not practical for us to provide photos to people doing research, or seeking to compile a library of digital images, and that we are less inclined to send photos of an inexpensive book (due to the time and effort it requires), in the absence of a demonstrable need or reason on the part of the would-be purchaser.

A very scarce little album - we have only seen this title once before. According to OCLC there are just two copies located in institutions worldwide (Herzogin Anna Amalia Biblithek Klassik, and Kunstbiblio Staatliche Museen Zu Berlin) . The plates: 1. Between 1827 and 1832, he produced several albums of lithographs, representing the customs and features of his contemporaries. "Between 1825 and 1827 Monnier passed much of his time in London, where he collaborated with Lami in what was to become the Voyage en Angleterre. On his return to Paris he embarked on a series of albums in which he recorded the manners and humors of the city with unprecedented profusion. Between 1826 and 1830 he satisfied the insatiable demand for his designs with almost 500 lithographs, nearly all of which were drawn with a pen and colored by hand. For each design he himself colored a master print and carefully supervised its subsequent preparation.. Some of the salient titles in his human comedy may be mentioned. There are potpourris like Recréations du coeur et de l'esprit, Paris vivant, and Rencontres Parisiennes. Macédoine pittoresque. There are more closely focussed surveys like Les grisettes, Moeurs administratives, Galerie théâtrale, Boutiques de Paris, and Six Quartiers de Paris. There are suites like Jadis et aujourd'hui and Les contrastes, which take their departure from comparisons in time or of manners..Monnier was a satirist with a difference. His attitude towards his subjects hardly varies. Für jedes Mahnschreiben, das nach Eintritt des Verzugs an Sie versandt wird, wird Ihnen eine Mahngebühr in Höhe von 2,50 EUR berechnet, sofern nicht im Einzelfall ein niedrigerer bzw. höherer Schaden nachgewiesen wird.
§ 5 Aufrechnung/Zurückbehaltungsrecht
(1) Ein Recht zur Aufrechnung steht Ihnen nur dann zu, wenn Ihre Gegen-forderung rechtskräftig festgestellt worden ist, von uns nicht bestritten oder anerkannt wird oder in einem engen synallagmatischen Verhältnis zu unserer Forderung steht.
(2) Sie können ein Zurückbehaltungsrecht nur ausüben, soweit Ihre Gegen-forderung auf demselben Vertragsverhältnis beruht.
§ 6 Lieferung; Eigentumsvorbehalt
(1) Sofern nicht anders vereinbart, erfolgt die Lieferung der Ware von unserem Lager an die von Ihnen angegebene Adresse.
(2) Die Ware bleibt bis zur vollständigen Zahlung des Kaufpreises unser Eigentum.
(3) Wir sind ausnahmsweise nicht zur Lieferung der bestellten Ware verpflichtet, wenn wir die Ware unsererseits ordnungsgemäß bestellt haben, jedoch nicht richtig oder rechtzeitig beliefert wurden (kongruentes Deckungsgeschäft). Voraussetzung ist, dass wir die fehlende Warenverfügbarkeit nicht zu vertreten haben und Sie über diesen Umstand unverzüglich informiert haben. Zudem dürfen wir nicht das Risiko der Beschaffung der bestellten Ware übernommen haben. Bei entsprechender Nichtverfügbarkeit der Ware werden wir Ihnen bereits geleistete Zahlungen unverzüglich erstatten. Das Risiko, eine bestellte Ware besorgen zu müssen (Beschaffungsrisiko), übernehmen wir nicht. Dies gilt auch bei der Bestellung von Waren, die nur ihrer Art und ihren Merkmalen nach beschrieben ist (Gattungswaren). Wir sind nur zur Lieferung aus unserem Warenvorrat und der von uns bei unseren Lieferanten bestellten Waren verpflichtet.
(4) Wenn Sie Unternehmer im Sinne des § 14 BGB sind, gilt ergänzend Folgendes:
- Wir behalten uns das Eigentum an der Ware bis zum vollständigen Ausgleich aller Forderungen aus der laufenden Geschäftsbeziehung vor. Vor Übergang des Eigentums an der Vorbehaltsware ist eine Verpfändung oder Sicherheitsübereignung nicht zulässig.

Rechnungsbetrages, die Ihnen aus dem Weiterverkauf erwachsen, an uns ab. Wir nehmen die Abtretung an, Sie sind jedoch zur Einziehung der Forderungen ermächtigt. Soweit Sie Ihren Zahlungsverpflichtungen nicht ordnungsgemäß nachkommen, behalten wir uns das Recht vor, Forderungen selbst einzuziehen.
- Bei Verbindung und Vermischung der Vorbehaltsware erwerben wir Miteigentum an der neuen Sache im Verhältnis des Rechnungswertes der Vorbehaltsware zu den anderen verarbeiteten Gegenständen zum Zeitpunkt der Verarbeitung.
- Wir verpflichteten uns, die uns zustehenden Sicherheiten auf Verlangen insoweit freizugeben, als der realisierbare Wert unserer Sicherheiten die zu sichernden Forderungen um mehr als 10 % übersteigt. Die Auswahl der freizugebenden Sicherheiten obliegt uns.
§ 7 Widerrufsbelehrung
Für den Fall, dass Sie Verbraucher im Sinne des § 13 BGB sind, also den Kauf zu Zwecken tätigen, die überwiegend weder Ihrer gewerblichen noch Ihrer selbständigen beruflichen Tätigkeit zugerechnet werden können, haben Sie ein Widerrufsrecht nach Maßgabe der folgenden Bestimmungen.
Widerrufsrecht
Sie haben das Recht, binnen vierzehn Tagen ohne Angabe von Gründen diesen Vertrag zu widerrufen.
Die Widerrufsfrist beträgt vierzehn Tage ab dem Tag, an dem Sie oder ein von Ihnen benannter Dritter, der nicht der Beförderer ist, die Waren in Besitz genommen haben bzw. hat.

Folgen des Widerrufs
Wenn Sie diesen Vertrag widerrufen, haben wir Ihnen alle Zahlungen, die wir von Ihnen erhalten haben, einschließlich der Lieferkosten (mit Ausnahme der zusätzlichen Kosten, die sich daraus ergeben, dass Sie eine andere Art der Lieferung als die von uns angebotene, günstigste Standardlieferung gewählt haben), unverzüglich und spätestens binnen vierzehn Tagen ab dem Tag zurückzuzahlen, an dem die Mitteilung über Ihren Widerruf dieses Vertrags bei uns eingegangen ist. Für diese Rückzahlung verwenden wir dasselbe Zahlungsmittel, das Sie bei der ursprünglichen Transaktion eingesetzt haben, es sei denn, mit Ihnen wurde ausdrücklich etwas anderes vereinbart; in keinem Fall werden Ihnen wegen dieser Rückzahlung Entgelte berechnet.
Wir können die Rückzahlung verweigern, bis wir die Waren wieder zurück-erhalten haben oder bis Sie den Nachweis erbracht haben, dass Sie die Waren zurückgesandt haben, je nachdem, welches der frühere Zeitpunkt ist.
Sie haben die Waren unverzüglich und in jedem Fall spätestens binnen vierzehn Tagen ab dem Tag, an dem Sie uns über den Widerruf dieses Vertrags unterrichten, an uns oder an [ggf. Name und Anschrift einer von Ihnen zur Entgegennahme der Ware berechtigten Person] zurückzusenden oder zu übergeben. Die Frist ist gewahrt, wenn Sie die Waren vor Ablauf der Frist von vierzehn Tagen absenden.
Sie tragen die unmittelbaren Kosten der Rücksendung der Waren.
Sie müssen für einen etwaigen Wertverlust der Waren nur aufkommen, wenn dieser Wertverlust auf einen zur Prüfung der Beschaffenheit, Eigenschaften und Funktionsweise der Waren nicht notwendigen Umgang mit ihnen zurückzuführen ist.
